Advice for anyone offered the honor of officiating
COLLABORATE with the couple on the wording for the ceremony. The sample scripts supplied by COTOR are excellent and can make a wonderful starting point. Be certain that their words are what comes through in the ceremony.
PRACTICE not only at the rehearsal, but also on your own as many times as it takes to become comfortable with the material, timing, and pace. I found it very valuable to go over the script a number of times with an audience of one (my wife) to get it just right. This is a once in a lifetime event for the couple being married, and you do not want it to be uneven.
Last, and very important, HAVE FUN with it! This is a wonderful honor and one you and the couple will always remember. I had a terrific day with them and enjoyed my part immensely!
